Norwegian Group is set to decide by late 2025 whether to exercise its 30 options for Boeing B737 MAX aircraft, in addition to a previously ordered 50 B737-8 MAX, CEO Geir Karlsen shared during an updated.
The airline’s decision on the options is expected within the next six months, with anticipated deliveries scheduled between 2028 and 2031, while the firm order began in 2022.
Currently, Norwegian’s fleet consists of six B737-8s and thirty-nine B737-800s, while its subsidiary Widerøe operates forty-five De Havilland aircraft and three E190s. The group aims to expand to 94-96 aircraft by the end of 2025.
Despite challenges with aircraft deliveries from Boeing and issues affecting Airbus, Norwegian’s financial outlook remains positive, with operating profit reaching NOK1.87bn (€16m) in 2024, although it was a decline from NOK2.2bn (€19m) in 2023.
