Austria’s Supreme Court has ruled that 111 consumer clauses of Wizz Air, including a €40 airport check-in fee and a 12-month limitation on vouchers, are illegal following a lawsuit by the Chamber of Labour (Arbeiterkammer).
The ruling mandates refunds for all airport check-in fees paid since 2018 and requires that expired “WIZZ” vouchers be replaced with new codes valid for five years from reissue.
These policy changes will affect all passengers residing in Austria and will remain in effect until at least December 31, 2027.
Wizz Air acknowledged the court ruling and confirmed that it will comply with the decision to adjust its consumer practices accordingly.
