Manchester Airport will implement a barrierless drop-off and pickup system starting from next month, utilising an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system to enhance traffic flow.

Drivers will need to pay the drop-off or pickup charges by midnight the following day, either online or via phone, with the existing charges remaining at £5 for up to five minutes and £6.20 for up to 30 minutes.

Frequent users, including taxi drivers, will have the option to set up an auto-pay account for future visits to expedite the payment process.

This change follows a similar implementation at London Stansted Airport and coincides with plans for Birmingham Airport to introduce a barrierless system for its drop-off areas by spring 2025.
