After nearly three decades in Philadelphia, the SS United States was towed to Mobile over a two-week period starting in late February.
The ship, built in 1952, is set for preparation before becoming an artificial reef off Okaloosa County, Florida.
The project, anticipated to last up to 12 months, aims to ensure environmental safety while establishing a museum to commemorate the ship’s legacy.
