The transfer of search-and-rescue helicopter bases to Bristow has been further delayed, affecting the handover to the Waterford base next year.
Initially scheduled for October last year, the transfer to Bristow is now postponed, with completion for the remaining bases expected by summer 2025.
Bristow won an €800m government contract in 2023 to operate the search-and-rescue helicopter service.
The incumbent operator CHC was responsible for the bases prior to the transfer to Bristow.
The delays impact the timeline of search-and-rescue operations and the transition to the new operator’s management.
