Qantas has reduced its ACMI contract with Finnair to only one A330-300, as a result of industrial action. Finnair announced that it will furlough 36 pilots starting by the end of September 2025, lasting at least until May 2026, following the industrial actions.
The dispute initiated in December 2024, with multiple negotiation attempts failing to resolve the issues surrounding standby duties for ACMI operations.
Recent financial reports from Finnair reveal a substantial impact from the industrial actions, costing approximately €31m in lost revenues and €22m affecting the operating result.
COO Jaakko Schildt shared in a statement: “Unfortunately, the pilots’ industrial actions have affected our ability to operate our wet-lease operations with the reliability that is needed.”
