The Airports Authority of India has reopened all 32 airports in northern and northwestern India that had been previously closed due to the Kashmir conflict.
Closure of the airports began on May 7, 2023, with plans to reopen by May 15; however, operations resumed on the morning of May 12 following the ceasefire.
The busiest airports affected were Amritsar, Srinagar, and Chandigarh, which are key locations for travel in the region.
Pakistan imposed airspace restrictions but did not close its airports; restrictions were lifted briefly on May 10 amid ceasefire negotiations.
Despite the reopening of airspace, both nations maintain bans on aircraft operated by airlines from the other country.
