It was announced during Donald Trump’s high profile visit to Doha, but exact details are sketchy about Qatar Airways landmark order for up to 210 widebody aircraft, which includes 130 Boeing 787s and 30 Boeing 777-9s, with options for an additional 50 aircraft.
This order represents Boeing’s largest-ever widebody deal from a single operator and Qatar Airways’ largest in the airline’s history.
The airline aims to leverage this deal to enhance its operational strength and customer experiences after two record-breaking years in commercial performance.
The order agreement includes 260 GE Aerospace GEnx engines and 60 GE9X engines, along with service agreements for engine maintenance, valued as a historic deal for GE.
The order coincides with a White House announcement of a $1.2 trillion economic exchange agreement between the United States and Qatar, with the Qatar agreement for GE-powered Boeing aircraft valued at $96 billion.
Al-Meer shared: “After two consecutive years of record-breaking commercial performance and with this historic Boeing aircraft order we’re not simply chasing scale, we’re building strength that will allow us to continue to deliver our unmatched products and customer experiences. We are extremely honored to deepen our relationship with Qatar Airways and grateful to them for placing their trust in us with our largest ever widebody engine deal.”
