Fleadh Nua in Ennis, County Clare, opens this weekend and continues until June 2, a vibrant 10-day celebration of Irish traditional music, dance, and culture. The festival, rooted in tradition since the initial hosting in Dublin in 1970, features over 120 events.

Concerts and Performances including live shows at venues like Glór, including highlights like the Frank Custy Tribute Concert, youth orchestras and performances from established and emerging artists.

The festival begins on Saturday with a Reedmaking Workshop at Ennis Community College, running from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for €45 for both days. The evening features a free performance called “Restringing The Stone Fiddle” by John Tunney at Cois na hAbhna at 8:00 PM.

Festivities continue into Sunday with an official opening reception at 7:00 PM, followed by a concert by Ennistymon CCÉ at 8:30 PM, both free of charge. Monday sees a full day of programming, beginning with a variety of free activities, including the “Caint agus Comhrá” at the Copper Jug, and a Lunchtime Concert titled “Riches of Clare” at St. Columba’s Church.

Attendees can enjoy free music sessions at Glór and a special concert featuring The Maurice Lennon Trio on Wednesday evening at Cois na hAbhna for just €20. Thursday highlights include the community-focused Céilí with The Tulla Céilí Band at 9:00 PM, costing €10, while Friday promises a vibrant atmosphere with concerts from local schools and a series of free afternoon events.

On Saturday, May 31st, festivalgoers can participate in another Reedmaking Workshop and choir workshops in addition to a storytelling session and street gigs, creating a festive ambience throughout the town. The festival wraps up on Sunday, June 1st, with a traditional mass at Ennis Cathedral and several street performances leading to a concert paying tribute to Frank Custy in the evening.

Monday features a farewell session at the Temple Gate Hotel. With a mix of free and ticketed events, Fleadh Nua 2025 promises to be a celebration of Irish culture, music, and community, inviting all to participate in the rich tapestry of traditions that define the festival.
