Central Statistics Office reports highest airport usage ever

soJust less than 41m passengers used the five Irish airports in the 26 counties in 2024, according to the Central Statistics Office, the highest number ever. Just over 50m passengers used all the airports on the island.

Almost 1.8m more passengers utilised these five Irish airports in 2024 compared to 2023, Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Knock and Shannon. 

London-Heathrow was the top route from Dublin, Cork, and Shannon airports, while London-Stansted was the top choice for Knock and Dublin was for Kerry.

Air freight increased by 12pc in 2024 when measured against 2023 numbers.

The DART experienced a 25pc rise in passenger numbers from 2022 to 2023, while other train services grew by 28pc over the same period.
