Lufthansa latest to offer free texting to passengers on all intercontinental flights

Lufthansa has extended its free inflight messaging service to all intercontinental flights, allowing unlimited messaging from personal devices

Passengers can use platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage without extra charges through FlyNet

The initiative is supported by Mastercard and requires a Miles & More card number or registered email with the Lufthansa Group Travel ID

Free messaging was initially launched on short and medium-haul flights in early 2024, reflecting the airline’s commitment to passenger connectivity

Plans for an extensive revamp of the long-haul onboard experience have been outlined in preparation for Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary in 2026
