Tourism Ireland has welcomed the inaugural BBI Travel charter flight from Groningen to Ireland West Airport Knock on Saturday.
The new service, operated by Emerald Airlines, will run weekly until the end of August, allowing up to 70 passengers per flight. Knock now offers 19 routes, 8 seasonal, up from 18 in 2024.
The inaugural flight event featured the Ambassador of Ireland to the Netherlands and included live Irish music and an engaging send-off.
BBI Travel is offering package holidays to Ireland this summer, integrating the charter flight within their offerings.
Extensive marketing initiatives are being rolled out in the Netherlands to promote the new service and encourage Dutch holidaymakers to explore Ireland.
Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Northern Europe shared “We are delighted to welcome this new charter service from Groningen to Ireland West Airport Knock. This flight represents a valuable opportunity to grow holiday visitor numbers from the Netherlands to the Wild Atlantic Way this summer. As an island destination, direct access is critical to tourism growth, so we greatly welcome this new flight.”
