Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has published its fourth annual Impact Report on June 11, 2025, detailing progress made through 2024 in sustainability across three segments: people, planet, and wildlife.

The report outlines The Travel Corporation’s sustainability strategy, “How We Tread Right,” and notes that seven out of 11 measurable goals have been achieved to date under the supervision of Sustainability Officer Julie Higgins.

Uniworld aims for net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its fleet by 2050 or earlier and has already secured 100 percent renewable electricity, with all staterooms and suites being single-use plastic-free since 2023.

Food waste reduction efforts have led to a 41 percent decrease in food waste by the end of 2024 through a partnership with Leanpath, while the company also supports local farmers and jobs in the local economy.

The report highlights brand inclusivity initiatives, such as LGBTQ+ and Women-Only Cruises in 2025, and commitment to “Make Travel Matter Experiences” that align with the United Nations Global Goals while combating over-tourism through itinerary reassessment.

Ellen Bettridge CEO of Uniworld shared : “Sustainability is woven into everything we do at Uniworld. We’ve come a long way since launching the How We Tread Right plan nearly five years ago, and we’re very proud of the progress we’ve made.”
