Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has signed a law mandating the privatisation of TAP Air Portugal.
Interested parties have 60 days to prequalify for a potential stake in the airline. Lufthansa Group, Air France-KLM, and IAG expressed interest in acquiring shares.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa vetoed the sale of at least 51pc of TAP in October 2023, citing a lack of transparency, then green-lit the sale after receiving clarifications from government officials about the terms. The government vowed to pursue a minority stake sale post the May 2025 elections.
