Brody, a two-year-old ‘sprocker’ has assisted in the seizure of over €100m worth of illegal goods in 2024 at Shannon Airport.

His passive response training allows him to alert his handler, Wendy, when he detects contraband substances.

Brody’s training began with a ball, reinforcing his ability to identify target scents while bonding with his handler. The relationship between Brody and Wendy contributes to their effective partnership both in work and at home.

The airport shared in a written statement: “Brody might look like your average pup – however he’s anything but. Brody can screen a person, a bag, or even an entire area in minutes. That ball became the reward for identifying target scents. At home he’s full of energy and loves playtime, especially with Harley – his retired predecessor. There’s this wonderful moment when Brody finds something – he struts, sometimes does a little lap of honour.”
