The first day of a forty day Serbian air traffic control strike has caused delays to 99 Ryanair flights affecting 17,800 passengers during the Belgrade ATC strike.
Ryanair has called for urgent reforms to ensure first wave staffing and protection for overflying flights.
Serbia’s lack of minimum service laws for overflights during ATC strikes contrasts with protections in countries like Italy and Spain.
Jade Kirwan of Ryanair shared, “It is unacceptable that passengers not even flying to/from Serbia but are simply overflying Serbian airspace en route to their destination are being forced to suffer unnecessary disruption.”
