
Last week saw an unprecedented 35,756 average daily flights across the European aviation network, according to Eurcontrol.
Severe weather conditions resulted in a 31pc increase in delays compared with the previous week. ATFM delays averaged 4.3 minutes per flight due to bad weather impacts. France, Greece, and Spain were key contributors to network delays this week.
Eurcontrol claim a total of 74,000 delay minutes were mitigated through coordinated scenarios by Eurcontrol with air navigation providers. At Marseille Area Control Centre 140,000 delay minutes were generated by not fully generating the planned capacity.”
