United Airlines has added flights to 15 cities to enhance connectivity options for passengers in anticipation of Spirit Airlines collapsing.

The new services will commence on January 6, 2026, including added daily round-trips from Houston Intercontinental to major destinations such as Orlando and Las Vegas.

Additional round-trips will be operational from Chicago O’Hare, New York Newark, and Los Angeles International to various cities, enhancing options for travellers.

Newark will see two new routes to Columbia, SC, and Chattanooga Lovell, along with increased weekly flights from Houston to Guatemala City and San Salvador International.

Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of Global Network Planning and Alliances, shared, “If Spirit suddenly goes out of business it will be incredibly disruptive, so we are adding these flights to give their customers other options if they want or need them.”
