Air France has begun deploying complimentary high-speed wifi using Starlink technology across its fleet, with two Embraer 190 and two Airbus A220 aircraft equipped already, and one Airbus A350 scheduled for installation this week.
The service, free for all cabin passengers, enables streaming of films and TV shows, online gaming, and simultaneous connection of multiple devices, accessible via a Flying Blue account.
Air France plans to equip 30pc of its fleet with Starlink wifi by the end of 2025, with full fleet coverage targeted for the end of 2026, costing an estimated €20 million for the rollout.
Aircraft not yet equipped will maintain existing paid wifi packages, with free wifi available for Flying Blue Ultimate members and La Première passengers.
Virgin Atlantic revealed plans to introduce Starlink wifi in autumn 2026, aiming for full fleet connectivity by the end of 2027, while China Airlines also plans to offer free inflight wifi.
Air France shared: “The first aircraft equipped with Starlink technology are expected in the coming months.”
