Whither Pittsburgh? On a week when Aer Lingus announced a new route to Raliegh-Durham and the First US fans arrive for Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings Sunday next, the big question is what is happening the long proposed route to Pittsburgh.
Aer Lingus is the Official Airline Partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, supporting their first NFL regular season game in Dublin at Croke Park in 2025.
The four-year partnership includes roles as Founding Partner and Official Airline of Steelers Ireland, plus Presenting Partner of Steelers Ireland 2025. The collaboration leverages the Steelers’ Irish heritage to boost Aer Lingus’ transatlantic routes for NFL fans.
Pittsburgh’s airport, with limited European flights, may see Aer Lingus service, potentially aided by subsidies and new A321 equipment. The partnership aligns with the NFL’s global expansion, following games in Brazil, Germany, and other countries, with Ireland hosting its second NFL game.
