Ground staff from SIMA, including baggage handlers and check-in staff, continued intermittent strikes over the weekend and will strike next weekend and continue to do so until disputes with Menzies Aviation are resolved.
Strike dates include 26–28 September, 3–6, 10–13, 17–20, 24–27, 31 October–3 November, and further dates in November and December 2025.
Affected airports include Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, and the Azores.
Workers are demanding higher pay, night shift compensation, and adherence to prior labour agreements.
Disruptions have been minmal so far but are potentially expected to impact airport operations, particularly baggage handling and check-in services.
