Construction starts on Blackwater River Town Bridge and Cycleway in Navan, delivered by Meath County Council and Fitzwilliam Group.
Groundbreaking occurs on 20 September 2025 on a 0.77-hectare greenfield site in Abbeyland and Abbeyland South townlands. The north-south bridge connects Blackwater Park to Balmoral estate, featuring footpaths, cycle paths, and public lighting.
The project enhances pedestrian and cycling access, providing traffic-free routes to Navan Town Centre. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, promoting physical activity and sustainable travel.
Martin Murray shared “This project will boost connectivity and promote physical activity for the people of Navan for generations.”
William Smyth shared “I am thrilled to see this project of public good underway, which has taken seven years of commitment from the various stakeholders involved.”
