Nordwind Airlines has revealed a settlement with AerCap Holdings over five pre-2022 leased aircraft, with AerCap receiving €91m from Russian insurer NSK on 23 September 2025.
The aircraft types include Airbus A330s, A321s, and Boeing 737s, per IBA data. The agreement contributes to AerCap’s $2.9 bn in pre-tax Ukraine conflict recoveries since 2023.
Nordwind, headquartered in Moscow with a Sheremetyevo hub, suspended international services post-invasion, returning some leased aircraft abroad.
US sanctions in August 2022 covered European Airbus models; AerCap’s London claim over 116 aircraft and 15 engines secured $1 bn indemnity in June 2025.
