Birmingham Airport has revealed it invested €264m over three years to enhance its terminal, adding baggage facilities, taxiway improvements and a redeveloped departure lounge.
The airport, serving 13m passengers in 2024/25, plans to reach 18m by 2033, leveraging HS2 connectivity to London in 45 minutes by 2033.
New routes target unserved European cities like Riga, Oslo and Helsinki, and transatlantic destinations including New York and Toronto, plus Hong Kong, Mumbai and Singapore.
BHX, with 29 airlines and 140 non-stop destinations, benefits from England’s fastest-growing regional economy and 90pc of the population within a four-hour drive.
The airport’s Capital Investment Plan includes new lounges, food outlets and children’s play areas to maintain passenger experience during growth.
Birmingham Airport shared in a written statement “Our €264m investment and new routes position BHX as the Gateway to the Midlands for 18m passengers by 2033.”
