A public meeting in west Dublin organised by Drone Action Dublin 15, discussed concerns over unregulated commercial drone use, particularly Manna’s drone delivery service in Blanchardstown.
Approximately 200 residents attended, raising issues about noise, privacy, and community division. Local politicians, including TDs and councillors, called for clear regulations, noting the Government’s Drone Policy Framework lacks timelines for enforcement or safeguards.
Manna reported over 48,000 deliveries in 20 months, employing 50 people and supporting 47 local retailers. The company claims drones reduce traffic and emissions but faced accusations of ignoring community engagement attempts.

Roderic O’Gorman shared: “The Government’s Drone Policy Framework does not set out concrete timelines for the introduction of regulations, enforcement mechanisms, or noise and privacy safeguards.”
Paul Donnelly shared: “It is astonishing that there is no legislation in the area and that the Minister for Justice had recently confirmed to me that while gardaí had trained members in the use of drones they are not in use because of the lack of legislative clarity.”
