Kerry plans to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s 1927 non-stop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris, passing over Dingle Bay and Portmagee.

The flight, covering 3,600 miles in 33 hours, earned Lindbergh the Orteig Prize and marked a historic aviation milestone.

Kerry County Council is seeking funding from the Department of Tourism for a 2027 commemorative event in Portmagee.

The 1955 film The Spirit of St Louis, featuring Jimmy Stewart, depicted Lindbergh’s flight over Portmagee and Dingle Bay.
