President Donald Trump has warned of potential export controls on Boeing aircraft parts as he ramps up his trade war over what he clais areto China’s rare earth export restrictions.
China expanded controls on five rare earth elements, affecting semiconductor users, on 9 October 2025. Chinese airlines operate 1,715 Boeing aircraft, with 144 outstanding deliveries.
China’s C919 production is slowed by US export curbs on Western parts.
Trump and Xi Jinping will discuss trade at the APEC summit in South Korea from 31 October to 1 November 2025.
Donald Trump shared, “They have a lot of Boeing planes, and they need parts, and lots of things like that. It was shocking. Where did that come from? That was right out of the blue.”
