Boeing’s Aircraft Recycling Programme is managing aircraft tear downs and part-outs, sharing revenues with operators to bolster used parts inventory.
The initiative addresses supplier pressures on parts demand and provides sustainable end-of-life options for retired aircraft through certified networks. Boeing partners with specialists like ecube, all accredited by the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association, to certify and repair high-value components.
The programme expands parts pool locations globally, including a new warehouse in Cologne, Germany, to reduce turnaround times for European customers.
Boeing invests in inventory localisation and distribution to support in-service fleets amid ongoing supply chain challenges.
William Ampofo shared: “We are working with the airlines to identify high-value parts and tear down those aircraft, go through the certification [and repair]process. While these suppliers continue to get healthy, we’re offering an alternative path to providing parts to them and doing it in a responsible, sustainable way.”
“We’re making an investment not only in inventory, but there’s a huge localisation push for us. We’ve got a warehouse and distribution network all over the world. We just recently opened a warehouse in Cologne, [Germany,] in response to the customer saying, ‘I need faster turnaround times, and I don’t want to go back to the [U.S.] to get something that I need in Europe’”
