A helicopter crashed on Shannon Airport taxiway on 15 September 2022 at 5.10am the accident report has shown. Loss of control occurred due to an unsecured power bank restricting the collective pitch lever.
The device measured 185 mm x 125 mm x 20 mm and weighed 622 grammes. The helicopter sustained substantial damage but remained upright. Three safety recommendations issued including infrastructure improvements for helicopter operations.
