Iberia and Turkish Airlines, have extended cancellations of flights to Venezuela through the end of the month, following a safety alert from the US Federal Aviation Administration about heightened military activity in the region.
The decision affects routes from Madrid and other European hubs, with Iberia confirming no departures until at least 28 November, leaving passengers to seek alternatives like connections through Bogotá or Panama City. Travel agents advise booking refunds promptly, as the disruption coincides with peak holiday demand, though some carriers offer rebooking credits valid for six months.
Officials in Caracas downplay the risks, but the move underscores ongoing caution in South American skies, prompting a review of insurance policies for those with ties to the country.
