Emirates has confirmed it had no plans to acquire second-hand A380-800 aircraft.
The airline remained committed to operating its A380 fleet into the 2040s. Chief executive Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated the carrier preferred its own well-maintained and refurbished aircraft. Emirates focused on existing A380s rather than adding older units from other operators.
The decision applied despite availability of second-hand A380s on the market.
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum shared: “We don’t want to bring an older aircraft. At least we know that those aircraft which we have today are well maintained, have been refurbished.”
