Caledonian Sky , formerly Renaissance Six, has been sold to Greek operator Kalamata Shipping. Kalamata acquired the Caledonian Sky from APT earlier this month.
The 1991-built expedition vessel offered itineraries in remote destinations. The ship completed a series of traditional cruises in the Mediterranean for APT’s Travelmarvel brand. The vessel sailed to the port of Piraeus after the schedule.
The ship operated in the South Pacific for Captain Cook Cruises Fiji before the Mediterranean season.
History
Caledonian Sky (IMO 8802870) stands as one of eight vessels constructed originally for Renaissance Cruises. Workers completed construction of the ship in 1991 at Nuovi Cantieri Apuania in Italy, assigning yard number 1145 and a tonnage of 4280.
The vessel entered service initially under the name Renaissance Six. Owners sold it in 1998 to Sun Cruises, which applied the name Sun Viva II. In 2000, Malaysian company Star Cruises purchased the ship and renamed it MegaStar Capricorn.
Hebridean Island Cruises, owned by Altnamara Shipping PLC, acquired it in 2001. The crew refitted the interior in the style of a country hotel, and the ship received the name Hebridean Spirit. Anne, eldest daughter of the Queen of England, named the vessel at Leith, Scotland.
Hebridean Island Cruises entered administration in 2009. Australian Pacific Touring, through its part ownership of Noble Caledonia, later acquired the ship and renamed it Caledonian Sky. The vessel underwent refurbishment in 2016. Travelmarvel operated the ship in 2025, accommodating 100 passengers.
