Canada’s WestJet changes ownership structure

Onex Partners and WestJet have closed the sale of 25pc equity stakes to Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, and Air France-KLM on October 22, 2025. Delta acquired 15pc initially, transferring 2.3pc to Air France-KLM, resulting in Delta at 12.7pc, Korean Air at 10pc, and Air France-KLM at 2.3pc.

Onex Group retains 75pc ownership and control of WestJet. The transaction supports commercial cooperation in transatlantic and transpacific markets. WestJet remains independently managed and headquartered in Calgary.

Onex Partners shared “The transaction, which was announced on May 9, 2025, closed on Oct. 22, 2025. As initially announced, Delta Air Lines sold and transferred a 2.3pc stake in WestJet to its Joint Venture partner Air France-KLM.”
