Passengers are reporting that an 89-year-old English woman “appeared dead” when relatives wheeled her onto an easyJet flight from Málaga to Gatwick.
Five family members assisted her into a seat after telling staff she felt tired and unwell. The aircraft returned to the terminal before takeoff.
Witnesses described the woman as slumped in a wheelchair with a neck brace. Some family members allegedly claimed to be doctors when questioned. When paramedics confirmed the woman was dead it led to a 12-hour delay.
EasyJet stated the passenger held a fit-to-fly certificate and was alive when boarding. Authorities are investigating but no arrests have occurred.
A passenger, Elizabeth Rowland, shared that none of the family seemed upset or like they were panicking.
