The A321XLR offers wider seats, higher ceilings, larger windows, free Wi-Fi, and 60pc more luggage space than Qantas’ Boeing 737s.

Qantas became the first Asia Pacific airline to operate the A321XLR, with a third aircraft due in November 2025 and seven by June 2026. An order for 20 additional A321XLRs, including 16 with lie-flat Business Class seats, supports transcontinental and South East Asia routes.

The aircraft form part of Qantas’ fleet renewal programme, with over 200 aircraft ordered from Airbus and Boeing.

Vanessa Hudson shared: “Seeing our A321XLRs take to the skies with customers for the first time is a proud moment for everyone involved and testament to the incredible efforts of the teams across Qantas and Airbus.”
