Slane Castle to host Viking festival on May 18–19

Slane Castle will host the Boyne Valley Viking Experience on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2024

The event will feature historical re-enactments, battles between over 200 Viking warriors, and a tented Viking village showcasing camp life from over a thousand years ago

There will be children’s entertainment, including a treasure hunt and warrior training, as well as demonstrations by crafts people using medieval tools and skills

The event is presented by Lakes Vikings & Boyne Valley Events, with participants coming from all over Europe, and includes a schedule of activities such as battles, treasure hunts, and talks.

Provisional Schedule Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2024

  • 12.00pm Fierce Viking Warrior Battle
  • 13.00pm Childrens Treasure Hunt
  • 14.00pm Viking Long Ships land at the riverbank and the warriors march to the camp
  • 14.30pm Childrens Viking Battles
  • 15.00pm Fierce Viking Warrior Battle
  • 15.30pm Childrens Viking Battles
  • 16.00pm Childrens Treasure Hunt
  • Ongoing Viking talks, workshops, music and storytelling.
