Spain’s tourism industry is anticipating a new record with 100m foreign visitors in 2025 for the first time, surpassing 2024’s 95m, as hotels, airlines, and agencies reported rising demand and earlier bookings to avoid price hikes since 2022.

The sector anticipated €135,800m in spending, up 7.5pc from last year, driven by strong European inflows. Airlines faced a €234.2m extra cost from mandatory 2pc sustainable aviation fuel use, three to six times pricier than conventional, which will pass to consumers.

Agencies noted 31pc more bookings in early 2025 versus 2024, with 43pc sales growth, especially for April’s Easter and summer months. This surge bolstered local economies, though sustainable practices and infrastructure upgrades remained key to sustaining momentum.
