TUI subsidiary Marella Cruises is planning to acquire two new ships to refresh its fleet, its announced during the shareholders Capital Markets Day.
The TUI-owned cruise line is evaluating options for its market-leading business amid concerns over its ageing fleet.
Current ships include the Discovery 2 and Explorer 2 from 1995 and 1996, and the Voyager from 1997, all of which are secondhand vessels.
Discussions are underway regarding the new vessels, with potential build slots available from the financial year 2031 onwards.
The company’s strategy is geared towards strengthening its market position by investing in new builds rather than relying solely on older ships.
