Details revealed of Hook lighthouse traditional arrow ceremony 1pm on New Year’s Day

Hook Lighthouse, the oldest operational lighthouse on the jsland, is preparing for its New Year’s Day event featuring the traditional arrow ceremony. Dunbrody Archers will be assisted by the Mayor of New Ross in casting an arrow into the sea, with the ceremony commencing at 1pm,

The ceremony symbolises an estuary tradition dating to 1687 when the he Mayor and the corporation of New Ross Town Council claimed their authority over the Tower and waters by travelling to the point of the Hook and shooting an arrow into the sea from Hook Head Lighthouse.. Guided tours and historical activities will accompany the event.

Hook lighthouse shared on their website: Please ensure you arrive early as parking is limited on the Lighthouse grounds, in the event that spectators chose to park outside the Lighthouse grounds please ensure you park safely and not obstructing any area of the road.
