Saint Patrick’s Festival in Waterford commemorates Luke Wadding

Waterford’s a Saint Patrick’s Festival will extend for five days from 13 to 17 March 2026 with free events across the city and county.

Father Luke Wadding from Waterford added the Feast of St Patrick to the official Vatican calendar of saints in the 1630s in Rome.

Festivities open on Friday 13 March with a Dark History Walking Tour and live music at multiple venues.

Weekend activities include family workshops, heritage tours, circus performances and street music across locations like John Robert’s Square. The main parade in Waterford City starts at 1:00 pm on 17 March with Dr Morgan McMonagle as Grand Marshall alongside parades in Dungarvan, Cappoquin and Tramore.
