Valencia has taken the lead in establishing the Network of Urban Tourist Destinations, a new collaboration between seven major Spanish cities including Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, San Sebastián, Sevilla, Zaragoza and Valencia itself.
The agreement was signed at Valencia City Hall by the respective mayors and tourism officials.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable and balanced urban tourism through shared strategies on managing visitor flows, digital transformation, heritage preservation and resident quality of life.
Valencia, via its Visit Valencia Foundation, will coordinate the first phase, including governance and best practice exchange. Mayor María José Catalá stressed the importance of quality tourism over quantity, citing events like the Fallas festival.
