Dublin based aircraft lessor IAT Leasing has acquired a portfolio of ten converted Airbus A330 300 freighter aircraft currently on lease to Amazon Air and operated by Alaska Airlines.
The transaction which completed in recent days sees the aircraft purchased from funds managed by Altavair on behalf of funds managed by United States based Blue Owl Capital with financing provided by Japanese bank MUFG.
The wide body freighters remain in service with Amazon Air under their existing leases while IAT Leasing takes responsibility for ongoing lease administration and asset management.
The deal marks a significant milestone for the Irish company as it enters the dedicated freighter aircraft sector for the first time and immediately positions IAT as a major player in the global freighter leasing market.
The deal strengthens IAT Leasing existing partnership with Alaska Airlines while establishing a new relationship with the e commerce giant Amazon
