Cork Airport hosts ministerial visit to review progress on its €200m capital development plan. Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien and Minister of State Jerry Buttimer received a briefing on the programme elements. The ministers performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new staff and goods security screening area.

The new mezzanine floor that will house the passenger security screening area advances on schedule. This facility opens in December 2026. Construction partners PJ Hegarty & Sons work with daa Infrastructure and AtkinsRéalis on the project.

Cork Airport recorded its highest ever passenger numbers in the previous year. The completed programme will provide infrastructure to handle fivem passengers and beyond. The development proceeds on time and on budget.

Managing Director at Cork Airport Niall MacCarthy shared “Cork Airport experienced its highest ever passenger numbers last year and was named Best Regional Airport in Europe by ACI Europe.”

Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien shared “It is a pleasure to visit Cork Airport today as our second largest State airport.”

Minister of State at the Department of Transport Jerry Buttimer shared “Cork Airport supports over 12,000 jobs in our region and is responsible for an economic impact of over €1 billion.”
