Nearly 200 armoured warriors take to the battlefield in re-enactment battles while hundreds more camp in the grounds to create a living Viking village. Visitors can try archery, meet wolfhounds and birds of prey, take part in a children’s treasure hunt and watch two full size Viking longboats sail up the River Boyne each day at lunchtime. Icelandic designer Sigrun Bjoerk Olafsdottir hosts the Yggdrasil mythological fashion show.

The festival runs from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturday 16 May and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday 17 May. Family tickets cost €80, adult tickets €40 and child tickets €15 with toddlers and infants free. Bookable blacksmithing sessions cost €40 each.
