Spanish journalists explore Jonathan Swift links in Ireland

Tourism Ireland has welcomed five leading Spanish journalists who have been visiting literary sites connected to Jonathan Swift. The group, with a combined audience of more than 1m people across Spain, has focused on the author’s connections to Dublin and Armagh as Gulliver’s Travels marks its 300th anniversary.

The journalists completed a walking tour in Dublin that took in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Marsh’s Library, Hoey’s Court, Tailors’ Hall and St Audoen’s Church. They also stopped at the Irish Writers Centre, viewed a marble bust in the Long Room at Trinity College Dublin and visited Dublin City Library & Archive. In Armagh they saw Armagh Robinson Library, which holds Swift’s annotated copy of Gulliver’s Travels, along with St Patrick’s Cathedral and Gosford Forest Park.
