Ireland’s tallest treehouse reopens in Birr following major enhancements

Birr Castle Demesne has reopened Ireland’s tallest treehouse following major enhancements.

The attraction at Birr Castle Demesne in County Offaly now features an additional tower and a large tube slide. The upgrades took place in partnership with Proludic and Garden Escapes NI. The Treehouse first opened in 2013 and forms part of a wider investment programme at the site.

The 120 acre demesne includes gardens, the Historic Science Centre and the Great Telescope. A new Discovery Train launched earlier in 2026. The site remains fully accessible and targets families with children aged six and upwards.

The redevelopment maintained the original character of the Treehouse while improving play value and safety standards in line with current regulations.
