The RAC has reported the busiest summer road getaway in four years across the England with 14.1m journeys planned between Friday and Sunday. School holidays drive the traffic peak particularly on Saturday.
Motorists face major congestion on popular holiday routes. Experts advise early morning or evening travel to avoid afternoon delays. Drivers should check vehicle condition including tyres, oil and fuel before departure. This weekend marks the second highest summer getaway traffic since 2016.
