Lufthansa’s Discover Airlines retains Frankfurt-Shannon for 2027 and announces new Scottish & Bristol routes

Discover Airlines launches Frankfurt-Glasgow with six weekly flights from 29 March 2027.

Bristol and Inverness receive services from Frankfurt starting in May and June 2027.
Munich-Glasgow launches with twice-weekly flights from 16 May 2027, replacing Lufthansa’s former route.

Lufthansa Group has announced initial new routes for the summer 2027 season through its leisure subsidiary Discover Airlines, adding new nonstop services Frankfurt six times per week to Glasgow starting 29 March 2027.Bristol gets receives twice-weekly flights from Frankfurt starting in May 2027, while Inverness gets a once-weekly service starting 19 June 2027. From Munich, Discover Airlines launches a twice-weekly service to Glasgow starting 16 May 2027, a route formerly operated by Lufthansa mainline.

Discover Airlines uses an Airbus A320-200 for its weekly summer short-haul service connecting Frankfurt and Shannon, introduced April 24.

These are the first destinations within the British Isles ever to be served by Discover Airlines. All services are operated by Airbus A320 aircraft and are limited to the summer months. Discover Airlines cites a growing interest in nature and outdoor travel as the reason for the route expansion. In peak periods, the airline plans up to 11 weekly flights to the three new British destinations from Frankfurt and Munich. Bristol is served twice weekly, Inverness once weekly from Frankfurt, with Glasgow having the largest share of capacity with up to six weekly flights from Frankfurt and two from Munich.

The connection between Munich and Glasgow is not a complete novelty in the Lufthansa Group portfolio as it was previously operated by Lufthansa itself, with the leisure subsidiary now taking over the route. The new services are bookable via the Discover Airlines and Lufthansa websites, German travel agents, and tour operators. Discover Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Marco Götz confirms the airline is continuously seeking attractive destinations to offer travellers more choice and new travel experiences. The summer 2027 schedule aligns with the Lufthansa Group’s broader strategy of deploying its leisure subsidiary on routes with strong seasonal demand, particularly those catering to the nature and outdoor tourism market.
