Birr Castle Demesne has reopened Ireland’s tallest treehouse following a major enhancement programme. The newly reimagined Treehouse features an additional tower, a tube slide and enhanced play areas for children aged six and over. The estate offers a Discovery Train, general admission to 120 acres, over 10 kilometres of walking trails, Ireland’s Historic Science Centre and the Great Telescope.
Visitors can explore the Great Telescope, the world’s oldest intact darkroom and the world’s tallest box hedge. Seasonal guided tours of Birr Castle provide access to castle interiors and the Parsons family’s contributions to science and engineering. Upcoming highlights include an Eclipse 26 viewing event on 12 August and An Afternoon of Fashion: The Countess Collection during Heritage Week.
The estate is located in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and offers picnic areas, the Courtyard Café and a gift shop. The full programme of upcoming events is available at birrcastle.com/events. The Demesne has become one of Ireland’s leading destinations for heritage, science and outdoor adventure.
