The Balearic Islands has released a guide for watching the total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026 safely and responsibly. The line of totality will pass directly through Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the eclipse from their accommodation or nearby open spaces to reduce unnecessary travel and protect environmentally sensitive areas.
The Agency for Tourism of the Balearic Islands has issued guidance to protect the natural environment. Visitors should remain on designated paths, respect local signage, avoid disturbing wildlife and dispose of litter responsibly. Higher-than-usual traffic levels are expected, so visitors are encouraged to plan journeys in advance.
Certified eclipse glasses are essential and must have the ISO 12312-2:2015 standard clearly indicated. Cameras or binoculars should not be used while wearing eclipse glasses as concentrated sunlight can melt the filter and burn the eye.
